Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Akhna processes everything on your device. We don't collect, transmit, or store your data. Your documents, questions, and answers never leave your Mac.

Data Collection

Akhna does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

• No telemetry — we do not track app usage, feature usage, or crash reports.
• No analytics — we do not collect usage statistics or behavioral data.
• No document access — your documents are processed and stored entirely within the app's sandbox on your Mac.
• No account required — there is no sign-up, login, or user account.

Network Requests

Akhna makes network requests only to download AI model files on first launch. Downloads are served from our Cloudflare R2 mirror (operated by Akhna) with Hugging Face Hub as a fallback if the mirror is unreachable. Only the model files themselves are transferred; no document content, queries, results, telemetry, or identifiers are ever transmitted. After the initial download, the app functions entirely offline.

Data Storage

All data is stored locally in the app's sandboxed container:

• Imported document text and metadata
• Chunk embeddings and vector search index
• AI model files (cached after download)

Deleting the app removes all stored data. You can also delete individual documents or all data from within the app.

Third-Party Services

Akhna's inference, search, and document processing run entirely on your Mac — no third-party APIs are called during normal use. The only external service involved is the file host used for the one-time AI model download on first launch: Cloudflare R2 (operated by Akhna), with Hugging Face Hub as a fallback. These hosts see only your IP address and the model filename they serve; they receive no document content, queries, or results. The AI models themselves (Llama, Phi, Gemma, Qwen) are open-source and run locally via the MLX framework.

Children's Privacy

Akhna does not collect any data from any users, including children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page with the new date. Since we don't collect contact information, we cannot notify users directly — please check this page periodically.
